When it comes to managing our lifestyle, we should use wisdom to make major decisions. These are big areas of our life that have a profound influence; such as choices about our health, career, marriage, where we live and so on. Yet conversely, it only takes one minor decision to alter the course of our life forever. Unpredictably, everything in our current world can change in the blink of an eye. Just consider the devastation of September 11, 2001 and the stories of people who narrowly dodged the same tragedy by a simple twist of fate. What appeared to be an ordinary delay, a prior appointment, or a sudden change of mind prevented them from being at the World Trade Center that morning. For whatever quirky reason, some individuals missed getting on one of those four flights and today, they’re still alive to share their experiences.
Whenever we’re faced so closely with our own mortality or escape a major disaster by the skin of our teeth, that’s not just a lucky coincidence. That’s the divine intervention of God keeping us out of harm’s way. After 9-11, it became crystal clear—tragedy can strike anywhere, at any time. As Christians however, we know that God’s sovereignty will continue to reign. When the love and power of Christ transforms our heart, we do not need to live in fear. 1 John 4:18-20 “There is no fear in love. But perfect love drives out fear, because fear has to do with punishment. The one who fears is not made perfect in love. We love because he first loved us. If anyone says, “I love God,” yet hates his brother, he is a liar. For anyone who does not love his brother, whom he has seen, cannot love God, whom he has not seen.”
What does love have to do with any of the decisions we make? Everything! Recently, a terrorist attack on a train bound to France was prevented. This massacre wasn’t curtailed by chance. Three brave young men from the United States risked their own lives to take down a Moroccan gunman. Their great love for mankind was demonstrated through their courageous efforts. Spencer Stone, Alek Skarlatos and Anthony Sadler became international heroes. Without their proactive thinking and responsible actions, many lives would have been lost in the blink of an eye.
In every sector of today’s society, it pays to Be Proactive! If you read The Proactive Health Solution and learn how to apply this important principle, you also can play a significant role in making the world a better place. This unique book is not just about health and fitness, it’s an extraordinarily powerful life resource. As mentioned in chapter five, Jesus Christ set the highest standard and example of proactive thinking and behavior. 1 John 3:16 “This is how we know what love is: Jesus Christ laid down his life for us. And we ought to lay down our lives for our brothers.”
